Canon launches its latest D-SLR, the EOS 450D (Canon Digital Rebel XSi
in America). Featuring a 12.2 Megapixel CMOS sensor, EOS Integrated
Cleaning System, 3.0” LCD with Live View mode and a new 9-point AF
system, the model presents consumers with an unprecedented level of
image quality and versatility at this end of the market. The Canon EOS 450D employs features already proven in Canon’s professional EOS-1 series cameras, including the DIGIC III
image processor and a redesigned menu system that enables features such
as direct control of Speedlite flash units from the camera LCD. A
choice of 13 custom functions allows the photographer to customise the
camera to their shooting style.

Newly developed by Canon, this large CMOS sensor is at the top of its class with 10.1 million effective pixels. A wide ISO speed range and low noise are realized through innovations like redesigned microlenses and enhanced output amp performance. On-chip noise reduction automatically engages when noise is detected (“Auto”), and can be engaged for exposures of 1 sec. or longer (“On”). Also designed for the EOS 400D DIGITAL are new automatic cleaning functions that reduce dust throughout the sensor unit to assure image clarity.

The Canon Powershot A550 is a 7.1 megapixel compact camera (CCD) from Canon which comes complete with a 4x optical zoom lens, DIGIC II, iSAPs and 9 point AF system. The Canon Powershot A550 shoots video at up to 30 frames per second (VGA) and has a 2.0 inch LCD screen. It's ISO rating is from 80 to 800 and has a shutter speed range of 15-1/2000 second. There is currently no release date for the Canon Powershot A550. No images of the A550 yet from Canon but we'll add them here as they become available. . |

The Canon PowerShot A570 IS is a 7.1 megapixel compact camera that extends the popular A-series line of cameras to a new level. It features a 7.1 megapixel CCD sensor, Digic III processor, 4x optical zoom (35-140mm) with an aperture of f/2.6 to F/5.5.
The Canon PowerShot A570 IS also comes with a 2.5 inch LCD display, ISO of up to 1600, add on lens adaptability, print/share buttons (on camera) optical image stabilization, face detection AF/FE and FE as well as the normal array of scene modes and connectivity (including PictBridge).
The Canon PowerShot A570 IS measures 89.5 x 64.3 x 42.8 mm and weighs 175 grams.

The Canon Powershot TX1 is one of the more interesting cameras to be released in the last week. It has the look and feel of a video camera but brings together movie and still photography into the one body.
In movie mode the TX1 features HDTV (1280x720 pixels) at up to 30 frames per second and as a still camera it has a 7.1 megapixel sensor and 10x optical zoom lens. It features DIGIC III, Face Detection and Red-Eye Correction, noise reduction and ISO of up to 1600. The Canon Powershot TX1 will retail for $499.99 USD. |
